West TX Judo Championship 2026

Registration/ Weigh-ins Tournament site, Evaga Desert Kitchen at The Elmont Resort,
Friday February 27th from 4pm-7pm.
Outside of the 915 area, you may call to register. Weigh-in Deadline Friday February 27th 8:30pm
Deadline for Registrations Friday February 27th at 7 pm.
Tournament Start:Saturday, February 28th, promptly at 9 am with an open ceremony, and team line up. Starting with the 4-year-old divisions and Masters Divisions, Adults to follow at 11:30am. Doors open at 8 am
Referee/Coach Meeting: 8:30 am
Awards: Gold, silver, and bronze medals for each division. 1st,2nd,3rd. Samurai Swords for best technique and best sportsmanship. 1st, 2nd, 3rd place Team Trophies
Judo Gis:blue or white Judo Gi, Jiu-Jitsu Gi will be allowed as long as top and pants are the same color (blue or white). It must be correct size for the individual. Gi’s will be inspected.
Eligibility: Proof of current insurance membership in USJA, USJF, USA Judo or is required. No, El Paso Residency is required.
Entry fees: $80 per division $10 spectator fee. Cash, checks or any major credit cards accepted. Make checks payable to Hayashi’s Martial Arts Academy.
Divisions:All divisions are determined at the time of weigh ins and are subject to modification based on entries. Each skill, gender, and age category will be separated into weight divisions within 10 lbs of each other, such as: light, middle and heavy. All decisions by the tournament director are final.

Rules
All matches will be conducted using the current IJF contest rules with the following modifications:
1.No Kansetsu waza (armbars) Armbars will be allowed ONLY in the Masters (30yrs+)/Brown/Black (17+) divisions.
2. No shime waza (chokes) in: any junior novice divisions, and regular junior divisions younger than 13- years old and No / armbars is allowed.
3. Hand touches below the belt during standing play will be a shido penalty.
4. Three (3) shidos will be a hansukomake loss for that match.
